FAQ

Frequently asked questions about adoption, fostering, and how to get involved.

What is the Fur-Angel Foundation? +

FAF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dog rescue in the state of Hawaii.

Where are you located? +

We do not currently have a facility. We work entirely through our foster network, with foster families located throughout the island of Oahu.

What do your adoptions include? +

All of our adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip, testing, deworm, initial vaccines, and an initial wellness exam.

Do you take in cats? +

No, not at this time. Visit Lucky Paws Animal Foundation or KAT Charities for more info!

How much is your adoption fee? +

Our adoption fee is $400 for puppies under 6 months, and $300 for dogs over 6 months and includes spay/neuter, microchip, initial vaccination, deworming or parasitic and heartworm (6 months and over) testing, and preventative medications. This fee only offsets the costs we incur to get our dogs medically up to date before adoption.

What types of dogs do you have available? +

We are constantly changing our available dogs, so please refer to the adopt page to see who we have at this time.

How do I become a foster? +

Please visit the foster page and fill out an application. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Are there opportunities to volunteer? +

Yes! Please fill out our volunteer application to learn more about upcoming volunteer opportunities.

What is the adoption process? +

Our adoption process is fairly simple. We do an initial phone consultation to learn more about what you are looking for in a pet. Then, we do a virtual in-home check to make sure you have a safe environment. Next, we set up a time to meet the pup. If it's a good fit, we proceed with a trial period and then paperwork.

Can you cover medical costs for my dog? +

No, we do not cover owned animal medical costs. Visit Finley Fort Foundation for more info on medical grants.

When is your next event? +

Please check our events page and social media pages for more information.

How do I surrender my dog to FAF? +

Due to the high volume of inquiries, FAF cannot guarantee if or when we will have space for your pet. Callbacks are not guaranteed and based solely on availability. Please feel free to submit your request and all submissions are automatically placed on our waitlist.

I found a stray dog. What do I do? +

Take the dog to any veterinary hospital or shelter to scan for a microchip. If the dog is NOT identified, file a report immediately with the Hawaiian Humane Society.

How can I get involved with FAF? +

We are always looking for fosters and volunteers. Please see the foster page or sign up for volunteer opportunities.

How do I make a tax-deductible donation? +

Visit our donate page to make a one-time or monthly donation. We also accept donations via Venmo (@furangelfoundation), Zelle (8087638662), or mail.
